eCopy PDF Pro
eCopy PDF Pro Office What is it?
The eCopy PDF Pro Office is the latest and most powerful PDF and scanning desktop in Nuance’s desktop application portfolio. As a result eCopy PDF Pro Office will provide users with more complete PDF support, including form filling and conversion, PDF portfolios, Dynamic PDF forms, Microsoft Windows and Office integration, and other features that our customers require. It’s the perfect combination of a superior MFP scanning desktop and a complete PDF solution for any size organization.
eCopy PDF Pro Office What is the pricing
eCopy PDF Pro Office Pricing for v5 will be almost identical for same-unit sales of PaperWorks, however eCopy PDF Pro Office will have an expanded number of seats available under volume (enterprise) pricing. A price list for the new eCopy PDF Pro Office is available now and includes 5, 10 and 20 packs and volume pricing with multi-year bundled M&S.
Can PaperWorks customers with current M&S contracts upgrade to eCopy PDF Pro Office?
Yes. PaperWorks customers with current M&S contracts will be able to upgrade to eCopy PDF Pro Office license for license, but are not obligated to do so. The upgrade will be available automatically to registered users on the Registration website after November 19th, 2010
Is it possible to run both PaperWorks and eCopy PDF Pro Office on the same PC?
Both products can run on the same PC. PDF files created by each are completely compatible across both PaperWorks and eCopy PDF Pro Office (and any PDF application, including Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat.) We do not recommend running both PaperWorks and eCopy PDF Pro Office as the destination for scan-to-desktop on the same PC.
Is it possible to run both eCopy PDF Pro Office and other Nuance PDF Converter Professional/Enterprise versions on the same PC?
No. If any of the Nuance PDF Converter Professional/Enterprise version 6 or version 5 products are installed on the customer’s PC then eCopy PDF Pro Office will automatically upgrade and replace them. If the Customer has PDF Converter Professional/Enterprise version 7 then this version must first be uninstalled before installing eCopy PDF Pro Office.
Is there anything in eCopy PaperWorks that is not in eCopy PDF Pro Office?
The most significant difference between the existing PaperWorks product and the new eCopy PDF Pro Office is in the support for an SDK and connectivity to content management systems. PaperWorks does have an SDK, and the first release of the eCopy PDF Pro Office will not. Both provide connectivity to content management systems, and both support an in-box from eCopy ShareScan. Over time Nuance will enhance eCopy PDF Pro Office to have SDK support, but it will be different from the SDK in PaperWorks. Both products can be installed and used on the same PC, and will coexist on the same PC.
What desktop application product will be available for eCopy ShareScan v5.0?
Both the current eCopy PaperWorks and the new eCopy PDF Pro Office will support the eCopy ShareScan v5.0 product, with eCopy PDF Pro Office becoming the flagship desktop product moving forward.
Two years ago, eCopy Desktop was replaced by eCopy PaperWorks as the branding for the desktop component for ShareScan. For the upcoming release of eCopy ShareScan v5 Nuance will be adding eCopy PDF Pro Office as a new powerful desktop application within the eCopy desktop family.
With the release of eCopy ShareScan v5 in November 2010, eCopy PDF Pro Office will be the desktop application standard for the eCopy MFP Scanning System. One copy of eCopy PDF Pro Office will be included with all versions of eCopy ShareScan.
The current version of PaperWorks will continue to be available and supported with ShareScan v5.0, mainly for those organizations who have implemented specific workflows and connectors that require PaperWorks.
What is happening to PaperWorks with the ShareScan v5 launch?
As before, eCopy PaperWorks will continue to be available to channel partners through their price lists. PaperWorks will continue to be supported and bug-fixed by Nuance for the foreseeable future, however no new features will be added to PaperWorks. We expect that users will transition to the new eCopy PDF Pro Office over time.
What about PaperWorks connectors. Will they work with eCopy PDF Pro Office? What Connectors are in eCopy PDF Pro Office?
eCopy PDF Pro Office Connectors do not use the same plug-in mechanism as PaperWorks so they are not compatible. Customers that require any connectors using the PaperWorks SDK will need to continue to use PaperWorks.
Built-in eCopy PDF Pro Office connectors will include: Microsoft® SharePoint® Services v3, Servers v2003, 2007, 2010; Autonomy iManage WorkSite v8.3,8.5; OpenText DocsOpen v4, Connectivity Solutions (Hummingbird) v6 LiveLink v9.7; LexisNexis CaseMap v8.5. Additional support for Worldox GX2; EMC Documentum Content Server v6.5 will be available at the end of November 2010.
Will eCopy PDF Pro Office use the same Scan Inbox for ShareScan?
Yes. The eCopy PDF Pro Office ShareScan Inbox works exactly the same as PaperWorks. Therefore the ShareScan Desktop Connector works exactly the same.
